Accomplishments 2016-17

 

  • Distributed information about the Partnership and its work at school and community events such as School Open Houses, Main Street Festival, Latin Music Festival, Pumpkin Festival, Holiday Tree Lighting
  • Implemented High School Health Fairs in collaboration with the Stratford Health Department
  • Supported alcohol and tobacco compliance checks conducted by Stratford Police Department 
  • Implemented a 'halloween' themed social media campaign on the dangers of underage drinking
  • Implemented the fourth annual Freshman Forum, an underage drinking and youth marijuana use prevention forum for all 9th grade students and their families
  • Launched the "Do You Ride With the 85?" campaign by the Youth Committee, revealing that 85% of Stratford youth reported NOT using marijuana
  • Distributed 40 'point-of-sale' counter mats to all liquor stores in Stratford in collaboration with CT Distributors and Stratford Police Department
  • Collected and properly disposed of 4,084.2 pounds of medication at Stratford Police Department Medication Drop Box since October 2013
  • Implemented Movin’ On Up for rising 6th graders and their families
  • Distributed 3,000 coffee cup sleeves, with a safe holiday message and reminding parents to talk early and talk often about the dangers of underage drinking and marijuana use in collaboration with Stratford Rotary Club
  • Distributed hand warmers at the SHS vs. BHS Thanksgiving football game
  • Launched “Safe Homes, Smart Parties” at Bunnell and Stratford High School, an online directory of homes that pledge to host youth social gatherings with no alcohol or drug use allowed 
  • Participated in a Sticker Shock Campaign in collaboration with Stratford Police Explorers at 3 liquor stores
  • Awarded 8 community service and youth led programs through M.O.N.E.Y. mini-grants
  • Conducted a 'Safe Prom' and a 'Safe Graduation' Campaign to all seniors and their families
  • Conducted the second annual Asset Building Classrooms (ABC) training to over 60 students and 20 teachers to introduce assets and plan ABC activities for each school
  • Distributed 'Restaurant Edition Conversation Cards' to participating restaurants during Stratford's Restaurant Week in April in collaboration with Stratford Junior Woman's Club and Town of Stratford Economic Development
  • Offered Mental Health First Aid and Youth Mental Health First Aid trainings  
  • Supported BHS and SHS post proms, Stratford PAL, and Asset Building Classrooms
